Chinese investors are interested in investing in Serbia's automotive industry in addition to the energy sector and road infrastructure, Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC) Rasa Ristivojevic said Tuesday.
- Chinese companies eye Zastava's remaining facilities in Kragujevac, and they believe that the manufacture of trucks could be very attractive to them - said Ristivojevic, who was a member of the state delegation led by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic that visited China last week.
- China has a highly developed automotive industry, and the Serbian delegation paid a visit to the Gili factory, which is famous around the world for taking over Sweden's Volvo in 2010 - he said in a guest appearance on the RTS morning show.
Considering that Chinese investments have so far been made by state-owned companies from China in state-owned companies in Serbia, Ristivojevic stressed that the recent visit to that country was "the first to see organized meetings between Serbian businessmen and Chinese private companies."
