Representatives of the UAE's flag carrier Etihad have talked with people from the Aviation Academy (SAA) in Vrsac about the possibility of Etihad training pilots there, Beta news agency cited the Flight Control Agency of Serbia and Montenegro (SMATSA) as saying in a release.
Etihad representatives have visited the SMATSA Aviation Academy in Vrsac to get familiar with the capacity of that pilot training school.
Vrsac-based Aviation Academy, owned by the Flight Control Agency, is one of the largest and oldest pilot training schools in Europe with over 2,100 graduates since 1954.
During the visit, representatives of the company from the UAE were introduced to the Academy's fleet of 20 aircraft. Before that, they also paid a visit to the SMATSA Flight Control Center in Belgrade.
Etihad and SMATSA will continue to consider all opportunities for cooperation at future meetings because the representatives of both companies are very satisfied with how the talks in Vrsac and Belgrade went.
Based on a strategic partnership agreement, Etihad will acquire a 49-percent stake in Jat Airways that will change its name to Air Serbia.
