Request for Proposal for EUR 21 million regional sanitary landfill construction in September

A Request for Proposal for the construction of a regional sanitary landfill in Subotica will be issued in September instead of August as initially planned, the web portal gradsubotica.co.rs has reported.
The first Request for Proposal for supervision services is still open, and it is expected to be closed by the end of November. Tender documentation for the other RFP, the one for the construction of a sanitary landfill, has been approved by the EU Delegation to Serbia and is now pending approval from the government.
An agreement with the contractor should be signed by the year's end, which may be prolonged to early 2014, but that won't affect the dynamics of work that should commence at the beginning of the next construction season.
The total value of this project is EUR 21 million. Project implementation will be supported by the European Union to a great extent, which has already set aside 80 percent of the required funding, that is, EUR 17 million. The remaining 20 percent should be provided by the state. This project is to be implemented in five years. Once completed, it should solve the problem of waste collecting, transporting, disposing and recycling in the territory of the City of Subotica and municipalities Backa Topola, Mali Idjos, Senta, Coka, Novi Knezevac, and Kanjiza.
