European offices of the world's top investment banks, such as Nomura, Citigroup and Bank of America, have started hiring new workers.
According to Financial Times, demand for new staff has hit a record high since 2010.
Over the last few years investment banks have been recruiting back-office staff only, especially in the IT and complaint handling departments.
According to a survey conducted by the Coalition company, staff levels in the front offices of the 10 largest investment banks fell 0.8 percent between the first and the second quarter to 54,000. In the past two years, levels have falled at an annual rate of 8 percent.
However, with the improvement of economic situation in Europe, some banks have become more active in the labor market, regardless of the traditional summer hiring freeze.
