Austria's Vamed ready to invest EUR 42 million in spa and wellness center - Investor found for modern thermal spa in Novi Becej

Construction of a EUR 60 million wellness and spa center in Novi Becej has been in the pipeline for a long time, and the new long-awaited news is that an investor has finally been found for that tourist complex. As people at that municipality in central Banat told eKapija, Austria's Vamed plans to invest in a modern thermal spa in Novi Becej.

- We have found an investor who is ready to provide more than 70 percent of the total investment. However, the problem is how to find the rest of the money. The Finance Ministry was supposed to set aside EUR 18 million. Considering that this money is not going to come, we are trying to find funds elsewhere and even have the municipality cover some of the expenses. This investment is important not only for Novo Milesevo and Novi Becej, but also for the whole country - Novi Becej Mayor Sasa Sucurovic told eKapija.

The wellness and spa center should be built in the vicinity of Karacsony castle, in an area abundant with thermal water.

The Idea to establish a wellness and spa center originated in 2006. After the Economy Ministry invited bids in 2008 and selected Austria's Oberer Consulting to prepare the Master Plan for the tourist destination Novo Miloseve, a new progress was made. This Master Plan, which was financed by the Finance Ministry with about RSD 12 million, was adopted October 2009. The Vojvodina Spa company that should supervise the entire project was established three months later. However, collecting money for the project implementation has been the biggest problem ever since.
