Privatization of Electric Power Company of Macedonia before the end of 2005?

If the buyer is found, Electric Power Company of Macedonia (ESM) will be privatized until the end of 2005. Electric Power Company of Macedonia should become holding company until July 1, 2005. That holding would consist of two daughter companies, one of which would deal with production, whereas the other would distribute electric power. The distribution and the production will be sold together. The Government of Macedonia made the decision to sell majority package of stocks in ESM, i.e. to sell at least 51% of the stocks.

Potential buyers of ESM are companies Čez (Czech Republic), Iberdrola (Spain), RWE (Germany), EON (Germany) and Rao (Russia). The Ministry of Economy of Macedonia is in charge of the privatization process in ESM.
