Corruption is still huge problem in Serbia

Serbia has made a small step forward in the fight against corruption, but it is still in the company of countries in which corruption seems to be a systematic social problem. This is the conclusion of "Transparency International", made according to the corruption perception index.

In 2006, Serbia is the 90th in the world with the corruption index of 3.0 (last-year index amounted to 2.8) in company with Gabon and Surinam.

Corruption perception index "TI", which relates to all countries in the world, is made on the basis of 12 difference researches and studies, which are conducted by nine independence institutions, and entrepreneurs, analysts and local experts are included.

Index 10 means that there is no corruption, while 0 means that the entire system is permeated with corruption. The best-ranked countries, with index 9.6, are Finland, Iceland and New Zealand, whereas the most corrupted are Haiti (1.8), Myanmar and Guinea (1.9).
