Renovation of ailing factories in Lajkovac - New investments and jobs announced by Pagus, Pima and Top Deica

The municipal administration of Lajkovac said in a release on Thursday that it had managed to attract several local and foreign investors to invest in closed factories in that municipality.

Production has been restarted in the renovated facilities that used to belong to Lamad, Nodel, Inka, and Avalina.

Pagus Kompanija from Belgrade has formed a subsidiary, Pagus Inka, and hired six workers in Lajkovac, announcing that it was going to employ another ten in the near future. This company produces paper and cardboard as well as paper and cardboard packaging.

Cacak-based Pima has purchased former Lamado, a production facility of an Italian socks manufacturer, with the intention of starting the production of PET packaging in Lajkovac.

Pima will first hire up to 15 workers and then, with the production expansion, another 40 will get a job. The site is now being equipped with infrastructure, and the first group of employees will start working in August.

Top Deica from Italy has acquired former Nodel, a factory for producing socks, and now intends to begin producing home cleaning products at this facility. The company is going to employ 15 workers in November.

Lajkovac has a large number of unemployed people, although, owing to Kolubara Mining Basin, the average salary in that municipality is among the highest in Serbia.
