Italians to invest EUR 5 million in kitchen furniture production in Jagodina - Gruppo Turi factory to hire 150 workers by November

Italy's Gruppo Turi signed Saturday (3 August 2013) an agreement with the City of Jagodina to invest EUR 5 million in kitchen furniture production on the Barutana site in Vinoraca.

Adaptation of the space in the former military facility spanning 2,000 square meters will begin Monday. A new group of 30 workers from Jagodina will go to Italy in mid-September to complete a training course that will be attended by another 30 workers in early October. The factory in Jagodina is expected to employ 150 people by end-November.

According to the representatives of the Italian company, Jagodina has made it possible for them to start installing machines right away. In anticipation of the start of production, Gruppo Turi will commence the construction of a new 40,000 sqm facility that will allow for the production of 700 kitchen furniture sets a day, furniture exports, and the employment of even more workers.

Having signed the agreement with Italians, Jagodina Mayor Dragan Markovic Palma said that the next place to look for foreign investors was Greece. Namely, Markovic will take 120 businessmen from Serbia to that country in mid-August.

Jagodina has so far closed investment agreements worth EUR 120 million with five Italian companies and a firm from Russia. Town officials are now negotiating future investments with another three Italian companies.
