MRKONJIC: First stretch of Corridor XI to be completed by end-2013

First stretch of Corridor XI, from Ub to Lajkovac, will be completely finished by the year's end, Serbian Transportation Minister Milutin Mrkonjic said Thursday.

Mrkonjic pointed out that Minisster of Construction and Town Planning Velimir Ilic was in charge of Corridor XI works, but he reminded that the construction of that route had commenced during the mandate of the previous government, when he himself had been in charge of that project.

Touring the building sites on aforementioned stretch, Mrkonjic told the press that it was not true that only 10 kilometers of highway had been built in 2012 as such projects always took several years to complete, adding that Corridor X would be finished by the end of the next year.

He stressed that the government's priorities in the field of transportation and infrastructure included the construction of Corridor X and Corridor XI and regional highway Pojate-Preljina, some rail and water transportation projects, and the Jat issue resolution.
