U.M.A-Architekten is preparing its projects in Serbia - The most proud of Stari mlin

Vienna-headquartered designing company, U.M.A. Group and companies and Belgrade and Sofia, employs 70 architects and project managers. On the markets of Austria and East Europe, the company took the leading position in the field of development of main designs which has been testified with numerous projects implemented in cooperation with international consulting companies.

Belgrade-based U.M.A-Architekten is a part of the UMA Group system, set up by Vienna-based U.M.A Architektur-Ziviltechniker GMBH.

The project they are particularly proud of and want to stress out is the reference they implemented in Serbia and is ranked as the fifth on eKapija ranking list of investment in the category of tourism, fun and recreation for 2011. It is the Stari mlin complex.

They have recently submitted the main design of the Belgrade-based Stari mlin complex, on the basis of which the works have been carried out already.

BS in Architecture, Gordana Plamenac, a responsible designer and the Office Manager at U.M.A. Architekten Beograd says for our portal that for them that project was a challenge, not so much for the size but for requirements considering the fact that it represents combination of reconstruction and revitalization of the protected cultural monument Parni mlin and fitting newly designed facilities, hotels and business tower.

- If we add to that demanding procedures and standards of the hotel operator, Redisson blue, which were to be implemented, we really have reasons to be satisfied with contribution we provided through the project design. Our contribution as the main planner is confirmed by the fact that the contractor implemented plans which solved all trouble spots with respect to mutual alignment and implementation of the demanding main interior project, in the development stage with a high level of effectiveness – a responsible designer, Gordana Plamenac explains.

She stresses out that an investor, Soravia Group, as well as the authors of the preliminary designed should be praised who set up designing parameters, colleagues from the Bureau for Protection of Monuments of the City of Belgrade who helped in solving demanding procedures with respect to Parni mlin and producers with whom we had a successful cooperation during designing.

- After such an important reference, it is definite that we want to keep the reputation so we have already been preparing for new projects which will definitely be discussed. In the meantime, we are engaged at the international projects in cooperation with the mother company from Vienna, U.M.A Architektur-Ziviltechniker GMBH - Gordana Plamenac, dia, points out.
