Tenants without new fee - Tax on property as of 2014 for both owners and users of facilities whose owner is not known

The announcement of Milica Bisic, a counselor of the Minister of Finance, that " tax on property as of 2014 will be paid companies who use property regardless of the fact whether it is in their possession" was misinterpreted, the Ministry of Finance says for eKapija.

As explained, tax on property is a commitment of an owner not of a tenant/user of a property.

- The only new thing with respect to taxpayers and changes in tax on property is that users of publicly-owned real estate will be obliged to pay tax on property used without legal basis (more precisely from the Law: a subject to taxation is state-owned property as well, without legal basis). This amendment changes the illegal issue that legal entity (as a rule a public company) uses real estate (a building or land) which is not registered in books and therefore does not pay tax, while private owners pay in regular basis.
