Telekom Austria eyes Serbia's SBB

Telekom Austria CEO Hannes Ametsreiter announced that his company planned on becoming the largest player in southeast Europe, adding that it was eyeing Serbia's SBB.

- SBB is an interesting company, and we will definitely collect all the information about the sales process - he said in an interview with the Vienna economic daily newspaper WirtschaftsBlatt.

Telekom Austria is looking for takeovers in Croatia and Serbia that could make it a leading player in the Balkans, Ametsreiter told the newspaper.

- I think we have a chance to be the biggest player in southeast Europe and also the most integrated provider in the region - he noted.

As he added, buying cable operators and satellite companies would make it possible for Telekom Austria to offer bundled packages of service to its customers, he added.
