Macedonians seek contractor for Skopje railway station reconstruction

Railway station in Skopje will be completely reconstructed after 33 years. The Macedonian Transportation Ministry has already published a call for proposals from interested construction companies.
This EUR 2.5 million project will be implemented using the EU funds with 85 percent of the funding to be provided through IPA Program and 15 percent from financial institutions, the web portal 24vesti.mk has reported.
According to Transportation Minister Mile Janakieski, the call for proposals will be open until September 3, and it is expected that the contractor will be selected by January 2014. According to the plan, it should take 12 months to complete the reconstruction.
The Skopje railway station handled 653,868 passengers in 2012.
