Preliminary design for Belgrade metro starts in September 2013

At the meeting held between the Mayor of Belgrade and representatives of the French companies in Lille, it was agreed that Egis and Alstom will carry essential preparation so that September should see the start of development of the preliminary design for the first Belgrade metro line.

- The preliminary design should be completed in 11 months and tender for construction of the Belgrade metro could be released afterwards – the City administration of Belgrade said in the announcement.

The announcement reminds that a couple of days ago the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development confirmed it was ready to invest in the Belgrade metro construction works.

At the meeting, further steps for the implementation of the second stage of the French donation were defined – development of the preliminary design if the Belgrade metro first line.

Technical details necessary for the development of the preliminary design of the first line, features of transport sets, optional stages of construction and funding aspects of some stages were discussed.
