Germany sets aside EUR 208,5 mil for developmental cooperation projects with Serbia for 2013

Head of the European Integration Office, Milan Pajevic, and the Manager for the Southeastern Europe and Caucasus of the German Ministry for Business Cooperation and Development, Annette Seidel, have signed today a Protocol on developmental cooperation for this year. The Protocol enables Serbia to use EUR 208,5 mil for different projects.

A total of EUR 195 mil of that amount is in the form of loans while EUR 13,5 mil are set aside as grants through technical assistance.

At the press conference at the Government of Serbia, after signing the Protocol, Pajevic said that the funds will be directed to the implementation of projects in three priority fields – public infrastructure, energy and water, then economic development and employment as well as public administration capacity development and institutions strengthening.

He said that within the developmental cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Federal Republic of Germany, in the period from 2000 until 2012, Serbia received a total EUR 1,3 billion of developmental support.

Annette Seidel pointed out that Serbia contributed a lot to the whole Southeastern Europe region when it comes to development and that she hoped for further successful cooperation.

As for development projects, she said that Serbia takes one of the leading places when it comes to assets provided from Germany.
