French companies offer to participate in implementation of traffic infrastructure projects in Serbia

Representatives of 12 French companies have offered today to participate in the implementation of the project in the traffic infrastructure of Serbia and the Minister of Traffic, Milutin Mrkonjic, said that his dream was having French TGV on Serbian tracks.

In the Government of Serbia, at the meeting with the Association of the French companies, MEDEF, Mrkonjic said it would be necessary to improve cooperation between the two countries in that field and presented current projects.

The Minister said that in the upcoming period, some EUR 4,5 billion will be invested only in the railway Corridor 10 in Serbia, adding that trains should reach a speed of at least 160 kilometers per hour in that direction.

The French Almstom offered to the Serbian government expertise in construction of fast rail.

French companies are also interested in construction and participation in construction of Serbian highways, especially through the public-private partnerships model as well as for investing in Serbian harbors and cooperation in water and air traffic.

The meeting was attended by the French Ambassador in Serbia, Fransoa Gzavije Denio.
