Tigar Tyres has launched one of the most valuable investments in Serbia at the moment - construction of a new production plant and all accompanying facilities within the factory grounds.
Branislav Kostic, deputy mayor of Pirot, said in a statement to the web portal Plusonline that the local self-government was providing full support to the company in the implementation of that extremely significant project for the entire Pirot Region, Plus Radio has reported.
- The factory is under construction on a site behind the current Radial Tire Factory in the direction of the Nisava River. Aside from the production plant, the plan is also to build roads and accompanying infrastructure and relocate the part of the landfill covered by the project. Our role as the local self-government is to facilitate procedures for issuing permits and various consents, and to make it easier to communicate with ministries, the Water Power Engineering Agency, the Property Directorate... All our available resources are placed at the disposal of Michelin - said Kostic.
The project will be implemented in several phases with the first facilities expected to be put into operation in late 2014. This investment, worth about EUR 170 million, will practically double production and lead to the employment of 700 new workers at the company.
