Solar park attracts Italians - Terna Group interested in joining One Giga project

(meeting between Terna Group representatives and the Serbian energy minister)
Construction of the world's largest solar park, which should be situated in Serbia, has not started yet, and the project has already attracted a great attention of foreign companies.
As it was announced on the website of the Energy Ministry, Italy's Terna Group, one of the global leaders in electricity transfer, is very interested in taking part in the One Giga project together with the Securum Equity Partners company.
One Giga, a 1,000 MW solar park comprised of 100 power generation units with a capacity of 10 MW, will be producing 1,220 GWh per year. Securum Equity Partner now works together with the Serbian government to find the most suitable location for construction.
The fact that numerous multinationals are already very interested in partaking in this project is not surprising, considering that this solar park will make Serbia a leader in the use of renewables in the world.
- The Republic of Serbia will not bear any expenses of either construction or park maintenance. On the contrary, it is estimated that the country could generate a revenue of about EUR 800 million in 26 years, from taxes only, whereas the gross domestic product would grow by about 200 million euros per year - B92 cited Alessio Colussi, president of the Securum Equity Partners, as saying.
Representatives of Italy's Terna Group met last Thursday (23 May 2013) with Serbian Energy Minister Zorana Mihajlovic.
