Signed contract about construction of the section of the highway Drac-Kosovo

American turkish company about construction of the new highway with 4 tracks which will be connecting Albanian port Drac with Kosovo and Metohija.

Albanian Prime Minister, Salji Berisa estimated that this project, largest by now, was of extreme importance for Albania. He stated earlier that the construction of this new short way that would be connecting Albania and Kosovo, was the priority of his government.

"Bechtel International" from San Francisko and "Enka" from Istanbul will build 57 km of highway with 4 tracks, including a tunnel of 6 km, and it is planned that this higway has a total of 170 km.

The works should start during October, 2006 and should be finished by June, 2009.
