The Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Governance, Verica Kalanovic, estimated that the first Serbian-Polish Economy forum, which she opened on Wednesday, May 16, 2013 in Katovci, exceeded the expectations and that it would contribute to more intensive cooperation of Serbian and Polish companies.

- We already have today specific results. Polish Nitroerg has completely defined its contract for opening the company of trade explosive in Boljevci, one of the most undeveloped municipalities in Serbia. Initially, it implies a job for 100 people while in latter stages, an employment number will increase – Kalanovic said.

According to her words, talks on potential strategic partners with respect to privatization of two Serbian companies undergoing restructuring process are in progress.

- We are only a step far from strategic partners for Pozega-based Budimka and Cacak-based Fabrika reznog alata. The most important thing is this will solve an issue of 700 people working in these two companies today – the Minister Kalanovic said.

More than 130 companies from Serbia and Poland attended the Forum.

- If judging by the beginning, I can say that the Serbian-Polish cooperation should see significantly better days– the Minister pointed out.

Upon that occasion, Kalanovic met the Duke Schlesia, the first man of the Schlesia region, one of the industrially and economically most developed and richest in natural resources region in Poland.

- The Polish economy is showing interest in investing in Serbia since Serbian market is convenient for investments, especially having favourable tax system – the Duke, a host of the Forum, said.

- Poljska privreda pokazuje zainteresovanost za ulaganje u Srbiju, jer je srpsko tržište pogodno za investicije, čemu posebno doprinosi povoljan poreski sistem - kazao je vojvoda, domaćin Foruma.
