"Rio Trinto" to open mine in Baljevac on the Ibar

Multinational mining company "Rio Trinto" has started research works in Jarandol valley near Baljevac on the Ibar and, according to the preliminary results, they found about 7m tons of reserves of boron ore.

The manager of "Rio Trinto" for Serbia, Nenad Grubin, points out that the works on the researched borings were in progress. During the first year, 12 borings will be researched, whereas additional 60 borings will be reasearched in the second year. All that will be followed by the elaboration of the Feasibility Study.

If the expected reserves are confirmed, "Rio Trinto" will open the mine and the units for processing of boron ore in Baljevac on the Ibar. Also, construction of boron acid factory is in the pipeline.
