"Facebook" is rapidly preparing for presentation to the investors of the results of operations in the first quarter of this year, and analysts estimate that there has been an increase of 36% compared to the previous year.
However, last month, the largest social network has lost six million users in the U.S., which represents a decrease of 4%, according to analysis firm "SocialBakers".
In the UK the decrease was 1.4 million, a decline of 4.5%.
Users also switch to alternative social networks in Canada, Spain, France, Germany and Japan. From "Facebook" no one wanted to comment on these changes.
- The problem is that in the U.S. and the UK many people who want to have a "Facebook" account, already have it. However, the boredom factor is present and people want to try something new. Will "Facebook" go the same way as "MySpace"? The risk is relatively small, but we can not say that there is none - claims a specialist in new media, Jan Mod from "Enders Analysis."
Alternative social networks like "Instagram", a site for sharing photos that won 30 million users in 18 months before it was taken over by "Facebook", are increasingly popular among young people.
"Path", a social network for users of smartphones, which was founded by a former Facebook, Dave Morin, gets even millions of users per week.
Number of users of "Facebook" is still growing rapidly in Latin America and India.
However, in developed markets, there is less and less accounts on this social network.
Even the number of minutes that Americans spend on "Facebook" is decreasing. The average in December 2012 was 121 minutes, but it decreased to 115 minutes in February.
