German factory of automotive cables "Leoni", from Prokuplje, ended the first quarter of this year with a production increase by as much as 49% compared to the same period in 2012.
Financial Director of "Leoni", Svetislav Budic, said that the production of the factory in the first quarter was higher by EUR 6 million, which is 8% more than what was initially planned.
- Due to the economic situation in Europe and in the world, we are not optimistic that this increasing trend in production will continue by the end of this year. However, we believe that we will achieve our goal, which is the production and sales of 60 million in this year. Last year we ended up with a positive result, with the profit that amounted to € 600,000 - said Budic.
He recalled that "Leoni" has its entire production exported to Germany, as it is supplying BMW company with automotive cables.
As Budic stated, "Leoni" currently employs 1,850 workers in Prokuplje.
- In the future, an increase in the number of employees should not be expected, because the production of "Leoni" is highly purposed and has no plans to start production of cables for another car manufacturer - explained Budic.
