The capital market in Serbia should soon obtain another ten new portfolio managers who became "the personnel goods in shortest supply" during the last few months, since none of the investment and private pension funds in the country can obtain the work permit from the Republic Securities Commission without the aforementioned experts.

- There are only four portfolio managers in the country at the moment, although the first exam will soon be organized for 30 candidates interested in obtaining that title. Just like at the faculties, 30-40% of the candidates usually pass the exam, which means that we will soon obtain another 10 new portfolio managers and that should satisfy the present market demand for them – said the President of the Securities Commission Milko Štimac at the last night's (September 27, 2006) meeting of the Croatian Business Club in Belgrade.

According to his words, the big problem is the very organization of the course and exams for portfolio managers since something like that has never been organized in Serbia. Štimac says that our country does not have more than five experts who could hold the lectures in mother language. He also adds that, at the moment, only one of 15 books required for the aforementioned exam is available in Serbian language.
