The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Radovan Jelašić, pointed out last night (September 27, 2006) at the meeting of the Croatian Business Club that so-called second pillar of the pension insurance in Serbia (mandatory private insurance) represented the subject that would most probably be on the agenda of the Government of Serbian in 2007.

He pointed out that there were many dilemmas related to forming of mandatory pension funds in the Republic, but he also said that the creators of the monetary and financial policy considered all that as very important.

- The fact is that the things in Serbia change faster than we expect. Therefore, I would not be surprised if the decision is made some day that we should prepare the terrain the next day for founding of mandatory private pension funds – Jelašić pointed out.

Speaking about the current exchange rate of the dinar, the Governor said that nobody could anticipate the value of euro on December 31, 2006, but he added that Serbia had positive inflation trend and that we were on the right path to reduce inflation to one-digit amount by the end of year 2006.
