Dinkic inks agreement on NCR investment in Serbia

Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic signed Wednesday an agreement on a EUR 2.6 million worth investment and creation of 300 jobs with Vice President of National Cash Registers (NCR) Michael O'Laughlin, Tanjug news agency has reported.

Last year NCR opened its center in Belgrade which currently hires 300 people, and the company has decided to make additional investment and employ another 300 workers.

NCR is a U.S. global technology company dealing with the production and distribution of automatic teller machines (cash machines).

Dinkic pointed out that the Serbian government gives supports to this large company specializing in IT industry and related services, in order for it to expand activities in Serbia and hire 300 more young experts, mostly engineers from faculties of technical sciences who speak several languages.

He added that the development of the IT industry is one of the priorities in the national plan for reindustrialization and called on young people to focus on technical sciences, adding that this is a recipe to get a job in Serbia in these difficult times.

O'Laughlin said that NCR's new investment shows that the company has strong confidence in the Serbian workforce and the system of the government's support for investments.

He also voiced belief that NCR will continue to make investments as Serbia makes progress on the path of economic development.
