Fiat Automobili Srbija (FAS) staff will be working in three shifts as of April 8th due to an increased volume of work and export plans. Namely, the export of Fiat 500L to the US market is due to start late May.
- A total of 3,000 Fiat 500L cars will be shipped to the USA in late May and arrive at their destination in a month and half or two months - FAS spokesperson, Aleksandra Rankovic, told Tanjug news agency and reminded that the export to Great Britain commenced in mid-March.
She added that 500L is already exported to Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Hungary as well as ex-Yugoslav countries.
Due to an increased volume of production and export plans for this year, FAS said in a release Monday that it was going to introduce a third shift for production workers at plants Preseraj, Karoserija and Lakirnica, whereas workers at the Montaza plant will be working in three shifts from April 22nd.
The release also specifies that they will be working five days a week in three eight-hour shifts instead of four days a week in two ten-hour shifts as it was the case before.
- These novelties result from a successful marketing and a high demand for FAS cars as well as good production process planning and management - FAS CEO Antonio Cesare Ferrara assessed.
FAS currently employs about 2,500 workers, and this number should be increased to approximately 3,000 with the introduction of a third shift, the release reads.
FAS plans to produce between 110,000 and 150,000 cars in Kragujevac this year.
