Minimum wage to remain at RSD 115 per hour by year's end

The Serbian government decided Friday (5 April 2013) to keep the minimum net wage at RSD 115 per hour by the end of this year.

According to a release issued by the government, a decision is made to set the minimum wage for the period March-December 2013 at RSD 115 per hour of work, exclusive of all taxes.

The Serbian government set the minimum wage this year after the Social and Economic Council failed to reach agreement on that rate at its session on March 28th.

The Social and Economic Council of Serbia did not make a decision on the amount of minimum wage for the period March-December 2013 at its session on March 28th because of a clash of opinions between employers, trade unions and the Serbian government.

The minimum wage was increased by 12.5 percent last year, while trade unions requested at least a 5 percent increase in the minimum wage for this year.
