Investment : Plum processing factory in Svilajnac, investitor : Calprun US

American company for the prcessing of plums “Calprun” from California, USA is due to start building of the factory for plum processing.

This factory will have the surface of 8.000 m² at the area which is reserved for industrial zone. Geological and all other researches which are needed for the construction license have already been done. Strategic partner from USA will invest 8.000.000 dollars.

The Municipality of Svilajnac has granted a long lasting lease on 99 years. The company will construct a factory and plant orchards on this site. The representatives of the company “Calprun” are obliged to employ 40 steady employees in the first year of work and 150 - 200 of season workers. In the next year, according to the contract, they have to employ 80 employees and the next year 160 steady employees.

If everything goes under the contract, by the end of August 2006, this company will start with its production of prunes which will be buyed from fruit producers on the territory of the Municipality of Svilajnac nad surrounding municipalities. Prunes from this factory will be distributed on European and Russian market.
