BMW gives up on building factory in Croatia

After it was speculated in the media that German car manufacturer BMW would build a factory in Croatia, the Department of Communications of the German company has issued a release saying that they have not decided yet whether to build a new plant in eastern Europe at all.

The famous Bavarian automotive company is one of the few that have failed to use the benefits of the EU expansion to the countries where salaries are lower than those in western Europe, Croatia's web portal Business.hr reports.

The possibility of BMW building a production facility in Croatia was first mentioned last week, after a member of the management of the Bavarian giant, Ian Robertson, said in Slovakia that BMW was considering the construction of a new factory in eastern Europe.
