Donation of US Government of 686,000 USD for two Justification studies - construction and gas and combined power units

Minister of Mining and Energy, Radomir Naumov, acting deputy of the Head of the Mission of Embassy of United States of America to Belgrade, Keith Simmons, have signed the two contracts on donations of US Government in total amount of 686,000 USD.

- The contracts stipulates that the US Agency for Trade and Development (USTDA) elaborates two Justification studies - the first that relates to construction of gas unit for combined production of heating and electric energy of territory of Municipality of Niš, whereas the second justification study concerns construction of combined unit that would use biomass on the territory of Municipality of Kraljevo - Ministry of Mining and Energy announced.

In both documents, in addition to economic and technical parameters, the thorough survey of the ecological and energy effects of possible construction of the aforementioned facilities on the territories of cities of Niš and Kraljevo is planned.

According to the justification studies, the gas power plant in Niš would have power of 100-150 MW, whereas the biomass-powered unit in Kraljevo would have power of 5 MW.
