First issue of free daily newspaper published in Serbia

The first issue of free daily newspaper - "24 sata", appeared yesterday morning (September 18, 2006) in the streets of Belgrade and the citizens can find it at 350 different locations.
The editor in chief of the newspaper, Marko Stjepanović, said that it was the first high-circulation newspaper that would be given for free until 10 AM and he added that those newspapers would be printed in 150,000 copies.

He said that the newspaper of similar concept had already appeared in Romania and Czech Republic. Stjepanović said that the editing concept of "24 sata" was different from the classical daily newspaper, because the political topics were pushed into the background and were mainly of servicing character.
The editor in chief pointed out that free distribution of newspaper was "not a marketing trick" and he announced that the citizens would be getting it as long as it existed.
