Government seeks minimum EUR 2.5 billion for Telekom Srbije

The Serbian government wants to sell Telekom Srbije but only if there is an investor willing to pay EUR 2.5 billion for a 100-percent stake in this national telecom firm, Blic reports.

As it was confirmed to Blic, no investor has officially asked the government yet to become Telekom Srbije's strategic partner.

- There are people contacting us to ask about possible investment in the national telecom firm, but these are mainly informal queries. We know that a company from Russia and a company from the USA are interested in Telekom Srbije, but there are still no official talks on that topic - said people at the Serbian government.

By the way, the owner of the Russian corporation AFK said in a statement published before the weekend that they were considering the possibility of taking part in the privatization of Telekom Srbija and that a decision on that would be made soon. As it was announced on the company's website, the AFK system was established in 1993 and is today one of the top ten companies in total revenues, ranking 315th on the Fortune global 500 list.
