Serbian Railways in talks with China's Huawei

Serbian Railways CEO Dragoljub Simonovic talked with a delegation of China's Huawei Technologies on March 20th about the possibility of that company participating in the modernization of the telecommunications network on the Sid-Belgrade-Nis main railway route and within the Belgrade railway hub.

As Serbian Railways said in a release, it was concluded at the meeting between Simonovic and Jack Wei, chairman of the Huawei Managing Board, that the modern Chinese technology could be successfully applied, but that required a decision to be made by the Serbian government.

If the state provides guarantees, implementation of these projects could begin next year.

As it was said, talks with the representatives of China's Exim Bank about the funding for the modernization of railway infrastructure in Serbia are also in the pipeline.
