The largest car maker in Europe, Volkswagen, plans to open ten more plants withing the coming years, seven of which in China, where this company plans to make up to 300,000 cars a year.

Considering a difficult situation in the car market in Europe, where the number of newly registered cars fell by over 8 percent in 2012, world's largest manufacturers focus their production and marketing on emerging markets such as China and Russia, the seebiz web portal reports.

According to the Bloomberg news agency, car shipments to China in the first two months of this year dropped 3 percent from the year before.

Despite that, manufacturers still believe in the recovery and further growth of demand in China, given that aside from Volkswagen, General Motors (GM) also plans to open a plant with a capacity of 300,000 cars a year. Ford has already opened a new plant, thus boosting its total production capacity by a third, to 600,000 cars a year.
