1,840 workers to leave company "U.S. Steel" voluntarily

Total of 1,840 workers of company "U.S. Steel Serbia d.o.o" decided to accept severance pay and leave the company, whereas 475 decided to stay and receive additional training for other positions.

The deadline for employees to make decision was September 11, 2006.

Of total of about 8,000 employees, the Surplus manpower program included 2,315 workers who have the conditions for retirement prior to year 2009, disabled persons of the second and the third category and the surplus manpower.

The severance pays are in accordance with the Law and they range between 175 and 350 EUR per year of work and the payment of severance pays should start on September 22.
