Idea about Danube-Morava-Vardar Canal well received in Skopje

Serbian delegation presented Thursday (14 March 2013) in Skopje its plans for the Danue-Morava-Vardar Canal project in order to relaunch that idea of strategic importance for the whole region, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning announced in a release.

Acting Director of the Republic Spatial Planning Agency Dragan Duncic presented plans for that corridor at the conference "Connective Europe - CEFTA Region's Response" in Skopje.

This initiative was very well received by conference participants, it was assessed in the release and added that that project was presented within the "Pan-European Corridors VIII and X" segment as "CEFTA's Life Lines".

During his recent visit to China, Minister Milan Bacevic signed a protocol for the design of a feasibility study for the construction of a navigable canal on the Morava River with China's state-owned company China Gezhouba Group Corporation. Once this study is completed, it will be clear whether and under what conditions that multifunctional project can be implemented.

The Republic Spatial Planning Agency has started preparing the required documentation for the development of a spatial plan for the special-purpose area.

The conference "Connective Europe - CEFTA Region's Response" was organized by the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce in order to launch an initiative for the development of transport infrastructure in the region.
