Cable railways on Kopaonik to be built on Kosovo's side as well, value of project - about 4m EUR

Vice president of Coordination Center for Kosovo and Metohia, Nenad Popović, represented the initiative for development of the hotel and the boarding house project and construction of cable railway on the south slope of Kopaonik, in village of Belo Brdo in Municipality of Leposavić, the aim of which is economic strengthening of that biggest Serbian municipality in the Province.

Popović said that, with the construction of four kilometers of cable railway and 2.5 km of road, the south side of Kopaonik would be connected with the system of cable railways and ski-lifts via interstation Nebeska Stolica to Pančić's peak, which would complete so-called round ring around the entire mountain and create about 1,000 new jobs.

Construction of cable railway, the completion of which is expected in winter season 2007/2008, is a part of the adopted strategy for development of the National Park Kopaonik and the spatial plan of the National Park Kopaonik designed in 2003.

According to the words of Popović, the project for construction of cable railway could commence already in October. It is necessary to provide about 3-4m EUR.
