Italy's Andrea Confezioni opened a factory for producing car tarps in Jagodina on Tuesday (12 March 2013), in the presence of a number of government officials of Serbia.

This factory currently employs 150 people and should have a staff of 520 by the year's end. It will be producing tarpaulin covers for keeping Fiat 500L cars safe during their shipment to markets in Europe and outside Europe, and this factory should later start producing tarps for other makes of cars as well. Italians have so far invested EUR 9 million in this 8,000sqm production facility, which is the first greenfield investment in the automotive industry in Jagodina.

The state helped the factory open by providing incentives amounting to EUR 9,000 per employee, whereas the city of Jagodina allotted a land with complete infrastructure in the industrial zone for free.

The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic, Jagodina Mayor Dragan Markovic Palma, Andrea Confezioni's owner Paola Tavelli and Italian Ambassador to Belgrade Armando Varricchio.
