Slovakian railway vehicle manufacturer and repairer ZOS Vrutky is interested in joining the railway infrastructure modernization program in Serbia, it was announced Tuesday (12 March 2013) at a meeting between the representatives of that company and Serbia's railway company Serbian Railways in Belgrade.
Slovakians propose to produce 25 state-of-the-art passenger cars for Serbian Railways, adding that they are ready to provide an appropriate credit line for that deal. They are also interested in repairing the rolling stock of Serbian Railways.
They expressed special interest in Smederevo-based Zelvoz and asked about the possibility of them participating in the privatization of that car repair company, which is currently owned by the state and is in the restructuring process.
Serbian Railways CEO Dragoljub Simonovic pointed out that that public company was surely interested in every modernization project, especially those focusing on rolling stock.
