Italy's Orox, manufacturer of textile machines, will kick off production in Novi Sad and hire 20 workers in April, Djordje Miodragovic, director of the project partner - the 3Latox company from Petrovaradin, said today.
The number of employees should be doubled by the year's end, and the plan is also to build a production facility for which these two companies have already rented a space in Petrovaradin.
- This investment is worth few million euros, and we hope to have bigger production here than in Italy, where between 50 and 70 machines are produced annually - Miodragovic told the press.
Orox's owner Franko Maiandi said that that company had decided to invest in Novi Sad because it was an university city where young and educated people lived. He added that the company would be hiring highly educated workers.
Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic said that the city authorities would try to make it easier for that company to operate and employ new workers.
President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Novi Sad Dragan Lukac pointed out that that investment was very significant because the whole production would be intended for export.
