VUCIC: Ikea arrives in Serbia in April 2014

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced Sunday that the Swedish furniture maker Ikea would come to Serbia in April 2014 and that if Serbia got a date for accession talks with the EU in June 2013, there would be more foreign investments in our country.

Appearing on Prva television, Vucic said that after a long time, the question of Ikea's arrival in Serbia had been settled.

Vucic said that investments and employment were priorities for the government, adding that getting a date for accession talks with the EU would be a good signal to foreign investors and that KIA and Hyundai could then open their car parts plants.

He also spoke about the possibility of closing a deal with the United Arab Emirates to build a factory for the production of computer chips.

According to Vucic, Serbia got a great deal in the sale of seven unprofitable agricultural cooperatives to the UAE company Al Dahra for EUR 100 million, with additional investments ranging between 6,000 and 8,000 euros per hectare.
