The Croatian government plans to form a new national oil company to win back some authority in oil and gas exploration management, which it lost by privatizing INA.
The new state-owned company would be a crucial body for government's technical and expert supervision of hydrocarbon exploration concessionnaires, which was earlier conducted by the Ministry of Justice, Croatia's Vecernji List reports.
The government came to this decision after numerous consultations with the professional public.
A law that would allow for the establishment of a new national oil company could be presented to the Croatian parliament as early as March this year.
