Trial production has began at Gorenje's newly built factory in Valjevo, which will be producing refrigeration equipment, Mayor Stanko Terzic told the local media Wednesday.
As it was announced, the Slovenian company has already hired the first group of workers for the new factory, where 400 people should get a job by March 1st.
Gorenje said earlier that the new factory would be opened March 1st. Old equipment and technology for producing refrigerators and freezers have already been moved from Gorenje's headquarters in Velenje to Valjevo.
This investment is worth EUR 20 million. The Slovenian company will receive EUR 10,000 for each newly created job from the state of Serbia, and it is also freed from paying municipal and all other taxes to the local self-government for the period of next ten years.
Gorenje opened its first factory in Serbia in Valjevo in 2006, where it produces refrigeration equipment.
This factory annually produces about 500,000 refrigerators and freezers, 85 percent of which are exported.
