Fiat 500L among safest cars in the EU

Euro NCAP, the official site of the European car assessment programme that exists to provide consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold throughout the UK and Europe, has recently announced its top choices for the safest cars on the road.
The Fiat 500L and the Ford B-MAX jointly share the title for the safest small MPV car whilst the Volvo V40 reached the highest combined score of any car previously tested by Euro NCAP. Twenty-six cars received the highest star rating of five stars, with one model achieving 4 stars and 8 receiving just 3 stars.
The best cars for 2012 recommended by Euro NCAP for their outstanding safety performance are as follows: Renault Clio – Supermini, Volvo V40 – Small Family, Ford B-MAX & Fiat 500L – Small MPV, Ford Kuga – Small Off-Road 4×4, Hyundai Santa Fe – Large Off-Road 4×4, BMW 3-Series – Large Family, Ford Transit – Business/Family van.
