Nova Varos gets biomass-powered CHP plant

The municipality of Nova Varos has earmarked six million dinars in its 2013 budget for the design of a study on the economic feasibility of the construction of a biomass-powered cogeneration plant.

- Vast forest areas and highly developed wood-processing industry would secure sufficient amount of biomass for this power plant to operate normally - Nova Varos Mayor Dimitrije Paunovic told the press.

As he added, this is one of the most important development and environmental projects in Nova Varos in the next few years.

This CHP plant would be heating most of the apartments and public facilities in Nova Varos, and it would generate electricity and heat water in apartments and city swimming pool during the summer.
