Pletenina Iris will not be making clothes for the world's most popular brands in Rijeka any more, but in Nis, said people at the Croatian Trade Union.

Workers at the Rijeka-based textile plant were supposed to be back at work on January 14th, after the New Year break, but all machines were already taken away, SEEbiz.eu reports.

The company's relocation to Nis has also been confirmed by Trade Union President Zorica Radetic.

About eighty workers of this factory, most of whom have been working for Pletenina Iris for over a decade, should have a meeting with the owner today so he could explain them his plans and tell if he is going to dismiss them as redundant workers and pay them their salaries and severance pays.

Although it is not specified which famous clothing brands buy services from this company, it is assumed that it will join the pool of partners of Nis-based Benetton.

According to the website Global Market, Pletenina Iris is an Italian manufacturer of clothing for men and women, and its products can be found in stores in Europe, America, Australia, and Asia.
