Thanos Trimis named new regional manager of British American Tobacco for Serbia and Montenegro

British American Tobacco (BAT) said on Thursday it had named Thanos Trimis as regional manager for Serbia and Montenegro as of January 1.

Trimis, an ethnic Greek, has so far been regional manager for Cyprus, Malta and Israel. He is married with two children.

He started his career in BAT’s Greek unit and after that worked in BAT’s central office in London as a European marketing manager for the Dunhill brand, BAT said in an emailed statement.

- Serbia is very challenging market, especially now at a time of intense changes taking place on the road to the European Union - Trimis said in a statement.

The new general manager replaced Douglas Lafferty, who has been BAT's managing director for Serbia and Montenegro since 2010.
