New retailer in Serbia - Casino to open 7 supermarkets

The investment company Sodibal has signed a partnership agreement with the Casino group from France and thus become an official distributor of Casino products for the Balkans region.

Aside from products distribution, the plan is also to open retail stores under the brand name Casino. This French company is specialized in food and non-food retailing and operates a network of hypermarkets, supermarkets and small stores in France and all around the world, Sodibal said in a release.

As Sodibal announced, "the company's development plan envisages a close cooperation with local manufacturers and distributors with the aim of accelerating the development of operations." One of the main steps is to set adequate terms for distributing new products through or in cooperation with local partners.

- A significant number of Casino products will be imported from France. Our wish is to make the French quality available to consumers in Serbia - said Sodibal CEO Nicolas Herriau.

The first phase of development in 2013 involves the opening of seven supermarkets in Serbia, two of which in Belgrade.

The Casino group, which exists since 1898, has annual turnovers of over EUR 50 billion. It operates more than 12,000 stores in France, South America (Brazil, Colombia), Asia (Thailand, Vietnam).
